Summary: to do with smoking, and are mostly near the outer part of the lung, starting in small bronchi, bronchioles or alveoli. Some of them are like gland cells producing mucus, and are called d.) Adenocarcinoma . Others, a subgroup of these, are termed e.) Bronchiolo-alveolar carcinoma, and these can spread widely around the lining of many alveoli and bronchioles
