my mum has Mesothelioma, how can I take good care of her? She had a surgery 5 weeks ago, the doctor had removed her right lung, she is still very weak now and has a very bad cough in the evenings, she will be having radiotherapy from next week onwards and her chemotherapy will start in July, the doctor told us that there are malignant cells on the area of her heart also and this is very worrying. We live in singapore and Mesothelioma is very rare here. She is 59 yrs old.
Do you know any women who had mesothelioma? And if so, do you know how they were exposed to asbestos or if anybody else in their family had mesothelioma too? My mom died a few years ago from this disease and we don't know how she was exposed, so just trying to get information. She was actually a surgical nurse for 30 years. The hospital she worked at was always being renovated as it was very old, but we don't know if that is how she was exposed or not. I am just hoping that it is not some random genetic thing that is completely un-related to asbestos.

Am I at a great risk of developing mesothelioma? The other day, I was doing electrical work at a an old church. I was rewiring in the ceiling, where there were broken tiles and lots of debris. In my 8 hours of work there, I can say positively that a while bunch of debris landed on my head, face, and body, and I do know that a lot of it got into my mouth. It wasn't until I was about 95% done with the job that a co-worker told me that I should not have been doing that without a respirator, due to the fact that there was 1% asbestos in the tiles. I am very new at the job, and I wasn't aware of any of this. Am I at a high risk of developing lung problems in the future? If so, how long will it be before I notice any effects?
My Friend Has Got Mesothelioma How Much Can He Claim? My friend has got mesothelioma from working with asbestos. We have looked about for info on whether we can claim compensation. What are the stages of mesothelioma? Hi. I was exposed to asbestos, silica and hydrofluoric acid fumes on the job for 10 years (20 yrs ago). In 05 I went into respiratory failure. An open lung biopsy turned up pleural Atypical Mesothelial Hyperplasia. The pulmonologists say it is asbestos related but it won't go any further. The brave people I've talked to who are dealing with mesothelioma say they had Atypical Mesothelial Hyperplasia at one time. Anyone know the stages of Mesothelioma?? thanks

is mesothelial hyperplasia a precurser to malignant mesothelioma? Just found out that not all asbestosis is cancerus. I can't find anything on non-cancerus mesothelial hyperplasia of the lungs. All my rearches turn up malignant mesothelioma. Whats up???? Whats the treatment? Is there treatment? My MD refused to talk to me about it. I only found out by reading my lung biopsy pathology report. My specialist quit me before I could ask for treatment. Go figure? "At least do no harm"? right Please don't tell me to ask a MD. That is like Duuuu!! Keep in mind I live in USA, not Canada, so finding a specialist in this field who is about helping vs ego & statis is VERY difficult. And I'm also working class & a person of color , so finding a specialist who will even glance my way is like finding a needle in a haystack.
can you still clam composation even if a family member has just died from mesothelioma? my dad found out he had mesothelioma on the first of march and he was going for a little operation to see how far it spred but on the day of the operation he died can i still clam even thought he has died

Final stages of terminal mesothelioma...? The patient cannot seem to find anything that works for pain relief except morphine which just makes him sleep. Does anyone know of anything that might make this easier on him?

We have no idea where she was exosed so I am trying to learn as much as I can about the places she lived. She lived at Carswell in the fifties. I would like to know if anybody knows anything about Carswell, or the area surrounding it. If there are any factories around that area, or how far away it is from the Summit and 5th streets (because 19 mesothelioma cases were diagnosed in that area). Just any info you have would be helpful. Thanks so much!
