Mesothelioma

Do you know anybody that has died from mesothelioma?

And if so, did anybody else in their family have it too?

1. It is important to understand that mesothelioma, while a horrible disease, is astonishingly rare, and the only reason most people have heard of it is because it has been positively linked with asbestos exposure, making it a potential goldmine for a particular breed of lawyer. To put it in perspective, 2-3,000 new cases might arise this year. That's less than 1 in 100,000 people. More people than that are struck by lightning every year!
2. Yes ... I lost my dad in May last year... he died from mesothelioma after being exposed to asbestos in his workplace some 25-30 years ago! I know of no one else in the family that have had this illness.
