This news has been on TV today , while Condoleeza Rice is here visiting Australia. Has this news been mentioned in the US yet. ? her secret service detail would never allow them to get close enough; not to mention NZ's own law enforcement putting a likely stop to it for diplomatic reasons.

This is the first I've hear of it and most likely the last. I recon the arrest won't happen. If it did it would be a miracle.
No little sir, I haven't got a drop of that news near my eyes...but Con Rice is a psycho and has probably had a hand in the murdering cookie jar more than once...so good luck if this is true, but the US backs up there pro-killers with lots 'o' security and the US also bombs innocent people too, so be carefull.
If they have to offer a five thousand dollar reward to anyone that can successfully place her under citizens arrest, I would say they don't have much confidence in their own agenda. My guess if anyone attempts to lay hands on Dr. Rice, they in turn will have hands laided on them, only harder

That organization must be made up of students on the short bus. They certainly do not have much knowledge of international law; no international court or the United Nations has declared any American action in Iraq or Afghanistan as a violation of international law. In addition, diplomats have immunity (by international convention) and the New Zealand government has the responsibility to ensure the safety of the Secretary of State (also by international convention). Is Ward Churchill teaching in New Zealand?
It will never happen, so it's not news worthy. Do you really believe anyone is gong to get that close to her? Not only is she guarded by the US Secret Service, she's also guarded by New Zealand's security detail.
I think the NZ police, would get to bust some stupid students head. But of course, the student in charge of the student association, is a middle eastern muslim. I think he needs to spend more time in class and hitting the books and less time at the student association. Because, he obiviously hasn't learned anything yet.
I would love to see her arrested, they wanted to arrest the pope here in Australia and who can really blame them.
That's an interesting approach. I don't think they have a case, but it is a novel approach. The use of force was authorized by the UN. Does the UN take precedence over the Geneva Convention? Is it a violation of New Zealand or Australian law to invade Iraq? Are there outstand warrants from some international court for Condi's arrest? If they do arrest Condi, it will give us the excuse we need to invade New Zealand. Free Condi!!!
Glad to see some students are doing something unlike our own students who roll over and play dead, unless there's beer. Can't imagine it will happen. but love the thought.
It would be impossible for a student to get close enough to arrest Dr. Rice. She enjoys protection from both the Diplomatic Security from the State Department, as well as security from the host country that she visits. Buuuuuuuutt if it did happen, clearly no police station anywhere will actually jail her. The person who did the arrest would most likey find his/herself detained.
i think this issue concerning the war in iraq is too big for an arrest to be made, and too many people are involved in this case- powerful people that is.. so i dont know if this will work according to plan, especially that their thinking of students to do this.. just my opinion though.. :)
I think they might get themselves shot. It might be interesting if they did manage it though. New Zealand would become the next 'breeding ground for terrorists'. Or they would be 'radical left wing guerillas'. Or the Americans might just bomb the place.... The Navy seals rolling into downtown Taranaki on a Saturday morning..
I don't think anyone in either the Auckland University or Victoria University student union would seriously consider being able to get that close. They aren't stupid. They may be radical left wing students but they aren't completely impractical. They know they will get a lot of coverage with the *publicity*. However, i suspect their point was more to draw attention to the issues which Condaleeza Rice, rightly or wrongly, accurately or inaccurately, is associated with.
